Dear Santa

Dear Santa,

I don't want many small things this year because I don't really play with a lot of toys anymore now that I am a teenager. When you come please eat the cookies, give your reindeer the carrot and drink your milk, or otherwise you will not have enough energy to go around the whole world in one night! If you could please make all of my wishes come true I would love you even more! But I wouldn't mind if you missed one or two things, because I know you are very busy, and your little elves don't have enough hands to make everyone in the world or buy everyone in the world ten things each!
But here is my wish list...

•An IPhone 5s or an IPhone 5c
•A hair straightener so I can straighten my hair whenever I want without asking my mum first!
•A spring free trampoline with a net around it so I can learn some new tricks with out falling off a small tramp with no net!
•Money so I can buy my own things like clothes or something, because I am very fussy!
•IPod Touch 5 (If you can not get me the IPhone)
•Chocolate and Lollies in my Santa Stocking

Thank You so much Santa
Love From Sasha <33

"A rose by any other name " was a line in William Shakespeare play "Romeo and Juliet". The play was a romantic play as Juliet said the same line to Romeo in act ll scene 2.The full quote is "In a name a rose by any other name would be ask sweet as"

The meaning being what matters is what some thing is not what something is called, by that I think Shakespeare means is dont judge people on the outside, judge people on who they are and their personality, also being another quote which means the same "Dont judge people on the outside, cause it is the inside that counts."This play was believed to be written in between 1591 and 1595, or as on another website it said 1914.

The Port Of Tauranga

The Port Of Tauranga

Having 186 staff members at the Port Of Tauranga, there is a lot to do, starting with Logging. The Port Of Tauranga gets pine trees shipped by Cargo ships, transported by trains, or driven to them by truck so that they can store them then transport them to Asia and Tasmania. The Pine trees mostly come from a place in the South Island called Hineua Forest or from Gisborne or very rarely Asia.

When you cut one pine tree down from a forest, the rule is that you have to plant three more trees to replace that one. You also have to make sure that the tree has been growing for at least 20 years in that forest. Once the trees get transported to where ever they are going to, they then get made into houses, furniture, buildings, fences, or building materials (they are the main ones.).

A place in Tauranga called C3 is the site that looks after the logs. Every year C3 takes in or transports 23 Million pine trees a year, also C3 goes through sixty three thousand Pine trees in one day. The staff at C3 work for forty five hours a week.

Once the logs get to C3, they are stacked in a fenced area into triangle or shapes so they do not fall down, or fall on someone. Tauranga gets a profit of five point six million dollars every year from C3 and the Port together.

Curling

Curling is a game that is played in an ice arena divided into 4 sections. It is played in the  Olympics since 1998 as well. Also in 2006 the sport Curling was introduced into the Para Olympics where athletes play in Wheel Chairs instead of standing up or crouching down.
The sport Curling was invented in the Medieval times in Scotland.

This game (Curling) is played with a different type of stone called the Granite Stone which weighs 19 kilograms. You sweep that along the ice using  a stick which is named the Sweeper or the Broom. The aim of the game is to sweep the Granite stone across the iced floor, targeting a circle located at the end of the ice strip called "The House."

The game is played with two teams of four people. You start off with eight Granite stones per team. Points are scored by judging the closest Granite Stone to "The House" at the end of the game.

Review

The Tooth Fairy is a movie directed by Michel Lembeck, written by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandell.

Derek Thompson is a hard working ice hockey player who tries to barge into his opponents and knock out a tooth or two of theirs. Derek was going to a daycare to pick up his girlfriends child when on the was home he discouraged her dream by explaining about the tooth fairy, and how when he got older he stopped believing cause the tooth fairy was not real. In order of Derek telling her that false information he was sentenced to one week as being a real and proper tooth fairy, along with a tutu, wings and a magic wand. Every once and a while when a child near by looses their tooth, he will transform into the tooth fairy with a note in his pocket saying the address and name. Walking softly through strangers homes into the child's room, collecting their tooth and leaving he makes a pretty good tooth fairy.

I recommend this movie for children ages 6-12, my rating would be 4 and a half stars out of 5. I like this movie because it shows not to discourage others beliefs in anything. There is also a second movie of this with different characters which is just as good.

Mrs Glaser-Brown and Mrs Keightley are our deans which means they look after us for the 5 years that we are there.

Hear: I hear cars beeping their horns as annoying as an ongoing alarm clock as they wait impatiently to get where they want to go.

Smell: The smell of smoke whooshes through my car window through my nose and into my body.

See: As I drove down the high way, I could see smoke rising from tall buildings planted on land which used to be a big green forest.

Taste: I open and shut my mouth cigarette smoke in my mouth from the cars around me a swell as the smoke from the chimneys ahead.

12 Hour Relay disaster

Everybody was putting up big tents, laying out the track with rope so you know where to go. People stretching and warming up for the big day. After the 12 hours 5:30am till 5:30pm everybody planned to go for a nice cooling swim at the beach just down the road. Suddenly everything turned quite, people looking up, mouths gaping wide open as all of the birds fly high away from the school to safe place. The sound of crashing waves broke the silence, people now starting to scream and hold onto their loved ones and friends, trying to keep them safe. People were running for safety and shelter which was hard to find in such little time. Unexpectedly the wave comes crashing over the little houses outside of school, smashing them to pieces like glass, everyone sprinting now as they see that the wave is only a few meters away. Suddenly whoosh the wave goes over everyone, Miss Campbell and Mrs Mills screaming as it is about to hit the,, holding onto trees, but get dragged away under water and struggle to hold their breath while they get dragged into the big ocean, everyone else trying as hard as they could to hold there breath, finally it was over.

Advice on smoking

Dear Sasha

I found out my two friends smoke. I'm only 13.
I dont know what to do. I am really confused.
Please help.

From Anonymous

Dear Anonymous

Well to start off you should tell a trusted adult straight away like a teacher at school or your parents if you are worried about your friends. If your friends offer you a smoke, just say no thanks, even if you loose them as a friend you will be better off loosing them than smoking. The best thing to do is not panic, and keep calm about it. If you are still struggling or the adult that you tell does not believe you, then call 0800 942 8787 (0800 Whats Up) and they will help you or here is the website for Whats Up and you can chat to trusted people on here http://www.whatsup.co.nz/. I hope this situation gets sorted out soon.

Teenager taking drugs artical

The popstar Pink was 15 when she went too far with drugs at a club one night, after being offered a singing career that she was very overwhelmed about. Pink said that before she went to the club she had been also involved with Ecstasy, Crystal Meth and Acid. She said that it wasn't to the point where she had to go to hospital, but it was still pretty bad. When she woke up in the morning her decision was never to do drugs again.

A Kings Collage student James Webster was 16 when he went to a 18th birthday party, with him he took a bottle of Vodka. That night when he went to bed, he never woke up the next morning. His Uncle says they think he died from alcohol poisoning.

Who am I?

I wear my hair in a messy pony tail,
My voice is always very loud,
and I don't have an inside voice,
I have a few freckles on my face,
I love singing and are good at it,
My eyes are chocolate brown,
And my ears have silver sleepers in them.
I am confidant at speaking,
I was born and raised in Tauranga,
I have one younger sister,
Who am I?

A funny story.

Yesterday morning, Connor, Matt, Zane and Kodi were making a movie, their movie had to include a cookie pad, so their idea was for Connor to throw a cookie pad at Kodi's head. When they were practicing throwing the cookie pad, Kodi ducked so he didn't get hit, and the cookie pad flew over the fence, down the hill to the estuary, they did not tell anyone, because they did not want to get into trouble, but, when Travis found out, he told Mrs Mills. That lunch time, they had to go down with there movie group and find the cookie pad.

Daniel Tammet is an english young man who suffers the same condition. Daniel is a maths genius and a great brain capacity which means a great memory. My experiance of bullying

Sometimes I hear that someone has talked about someone behind their back, then the person who made talked behind her back will go and tell lots of her other friends, and make  big rumor. If the person who got talked about hears the rumor that is not true, but people keep teasing her, or looking at her when she walks past, it could lead to the people bullying her about the rumor that is made up, or it could lead to even worse like suicide.

I think that people should stop bullying others, and just carry on with life, because if one person says something that is not true, and people keep hassling her or him, it could actually lead to suicide, and then the person who made up the rumor would have killed someone from their words.

Uniforms

For

•It helps you keep neat and tidy when you are at school, or when you go on school trips, it represents you as your school

•You don't have to wear different things everyday, and with a uniform, you can wear the same thing, without going through your draws.

Against

•When you wear mufti,  and you don't wear something in "fashion" or something over the top, then people could tease you about what you are wearing, and it might get so bad, that you do something awful to your self.

•Your uniform can get very dirty, or uncomfortable through out the day, where as if you wear your own clothes, you know that they are comfortable.

Is homework good?

For

• You can practice the work that you have learnt at school at home so you can get better and better at it, so when it comes to your teacher going over the work, you can say "I know exactly how to do that"

Against

• Sometimes you might have sports after school, or something else important to do, so you don't complete your homework.

• Sometimes your teacher gives you too much homework, so you don't complete it in time

Things that are annoying to me

My sister tries to check my history on my laptop after I have done my homework, to get me into trouble, she takes screen shots

It is not that hard to see if the ball hits the oppositions feet or ours. When we were playing Aquinas in hockey, the red said that the ball hit our feet, but it actually hit the other teams feet. What was even worse is that it got about 5 meters outside of the goal, and the ref blew the whistle! They took their free hit, which was meant to be ours, luckily Milly is a great goalie, and stopped the ball!!

My best part of the holidays...

My best part of the holidays was when my mum told my sister Kaitlyn and I that we were going to Gisborne to see our brother Kerry and his daughter Hope, who is 14 months old. We left at 9:00 am, and got there at around 2:00 pm, it is usually only a four hour drive, but we stopped and got some lunch on the way, and also stopped to get some pants, and a top for Hope. When we got there, we got to know Hope, and Kerry's girlfriend Megan. Kaitlyn and I put up a volleyball net and played badminton. We took Hope for a little walk around the block, and on the way home, we stopped at the shops, and got a few lollies. In Gisborne, the sun sets at 5:00pm so we could not stay outside for long. When we went inside, Kerry and I baked a yummy banana cake. For dinner we had roast chicken and veggies. When it was 9:00 pm we went to bed, we slept in a room that had no curtains, so we pegged up some spare blankets. The next day, we went for a walk on the beach, and decided to go to Mini Putt. At Mini Putt, Hope fell asleep in her push chair.

Homework Task-Book Reveiw

Diary of a Wimpy kid
By Jeff Kinney

Greg Heffley is one of the three children in his family. According to Greg his little brother Manny never ever “gets into trouble” even if he really deserves it. Whenever he does something wrong he always blames it on Greg. Their older brother Rodrick always gets the best of Greg by pulling pranks on him and all sorts of mischievous adventures.

In Greg's diary, he writes and details every little thing, starting with his first day of middle school and his warnings to readers about choosing whereabouts to sit in class, to him liking this pretty girl named Holly Hills. How does Greg feel about middle school?, he thinks it is really boring and dumb.

Whether it's dealing with family life, bullying or his best friend Rowely, Greg is always too busy to figure out the angle that will make things turn out best for him.

Diary of a wimpy kid was written by Jeff Kinney, published on April 7, 2007. This book was published by Amulet Books in New York City.

I think this book is certainly a must read book for children going through Middle School. I really like how Jeff Kinney told the story in a humorous manner, in parts and serious in other parts. I really enjoyed the book, Remember that this is only the first book so you will have to read the other ones to find out what happens in the next book Rodrick rules....

Excellence in the arts
Join the Production, choir, a band or Kapa Haka participating in all rehearsals and performances for the year

In term one, the Tauranga Intermediate School production "A Most Triumphant Tale" auditions took place. You could audition for singing, acting or dancing. I auditioned for a dancer, and was very pleased when I heard the news that I got into a dance called Swan Lake, which is Ballet. On Thursday in 3rd block we would practice the dance choreographed by Miss Spencer. We had rehearsals on the last Sunday of the school holidays, and all of the Sundays after that until the 23rd of June, because the next week, we lived in the school hall (not literally) practicing and practicing. On Thursday that week, we had a full dress rehearsal with make up too. That day I got asked to be in another dance called Final Countdown which is Jazz, I was very excited! The costume for that dance was the 80's, so I wore a loose white, blue and pink top, denim shorts with fluro pink tights underneath, light pink leg warmers and stripy fingerless gloves. A Most Triumphant Tale is about two bands, One Dimension who lipsync and Labyrinth who actually sing.

The Hundred And One Dalmatians

Imagine being Mr and Mrs Dearly who live in a home with 15 playful, adorable dalmatian puppies. Pongo and Missis are the proudest and most protective Dalmatian parents ever. Mr and Mrs Dearly live in London, in a very big house with a Nanny Butler and a Nanny Chef. The Dearly's are very loving couple who adore the dalmatian family, but when their evil neighbor Cruella De Vil finds out about the birth of all the puppies she is ecstatic. All she thinks about is what a lovely fashionable warm spotty fur coat the Dalmatian puppies would make. One day, Cruella finally gets an opportunity when the Dearly's, Pongo and Missis go out for a lovely walk Cruella De Vil decides to sidetrack the Nanny's while her brothers sneak into the back yard, steel the puppies and take them to Hell Hall (The brothers house) where Pongo and Missis puppies find 82 more puppies, some bigger and some smaller than them. Cruella's plan was that all 97 of the puppies would get fattened so Cruella's husband can skin them all and make her delightful Dalmatian fur coat she has always wanted. When the Dearly's get back from their walk wit Pongo and Missis, they hear the devastating news, and Pongo and Missis decide that the next night at twilight, they would leave their owners, and set off on a journey to find their 15 much loved puppies. Will Pongo and Missis find their puppies, or will they have to live their lives with out them? Read the book to find out.

The 101 Dalmatians is a fiction children's and adults, book written by Dodie Smith and first published on April 1st 1956. I really enjoy the book 101 Dalmatians, because it has a  lot more details than the movie, and it tells a fantastic story, it is also a story with a moral, a story about loyalty, kindness and courage.

Computer Game

I sometimes play a game called Sky Wire. There is a roller coaster which has a cart on it and in the cart is 3 little people. You go around the roller coaster while there are little obstacles that you have to wait to finish then you have to go around. If someone falls out of the cart, you loose one life, you have 3 lives, one for each person. The setting of the game is set outside at a theme park. The aim of the game is to get to the end of the roller coaster, having at least one person or more left, you go through the corse and you try not to get pooped on by birds or you loose the life for that person, so you have to dodge that. There are different levels, and when you finish a level, the next one could be harder or easier. You can play single player or multi player, I play single player, cause I dont like other people getting me out.

Prepare three 3 corse meals.

Last night for dinner I cooked my third 3 corse meal for the homework challenge.  For the entree I cut up some carrots and salary, and made some original hummus. For my main I cooked pork dumplings on noodles. I bought some pork mince, put it in the pan with some onion, cabbage, carrot and some corn flour. For the dumpling dough I mixed flour and water together, put the filling inside the dough, spooned some pork mince and the filling in the middle, folded the dough in half and pressed it down with a fork, I cooked the dumplings in bubbling hot water with some oil. For dessert I made sticky date pudding with butter scotch sause and a scoop of ice cream.

Here is a photo of my menu and photos of me cooking the 3 corse meal

My Mums Job.

My mum used to work at Quality Bakers she was a sales rep their. They sell Natures Fresh Bread, Monlenburg, and a lot more different types of bread, they also sell apricot slice, Caramel slice, muffins, cupcakes and more. Mums area she would drive to was Whakatane, Bay of Plenty, Thames and Opotiki. In those towns, mum would go to different dairies and deliver different breads and cakes and stock them up. I liked mum having that job because we would get free cakes and bread and slices. Mum had been driving a lot of kilometers a week! Mum had been working for Quality bakers for 17 years, then in 2010 the business was having a restructure and mum got redundancy, which means, mum didn't do the job anymore. Quality bakers is competing against tip top and homebrand, and other bread companies.

Argument I have had with my sister

When I am trying to do my homework and Kaitlyn (my sister) is singing so loud, I swear some days it could brake a window.

"Kaitlyn!" I say, shouting so she can hear me, but carries on singing.
"I am titanium, shoot me down..." I hear kaitlyn yelling.
"Shut up Kaitlyn" I say, "You suck at singing" I say, trying to get her to stop.
Mum walks in.
"Whats going on" Mum yells.

Free Writing

Yesterday we had a relever teacher because Miss Campbell was away sick. We did our daily routine except in maths, Mrs V gave us a coloring calculator work sheet. At 10:15 we went outside and met with the rest of he house and did the estuary run. After morning tea we did our how to videos and science fair. I asked if I could go up on the turf and do my science fair testing, I tested 3 people then another house used the turf, so I packed up and went back to class. I continued with the coloring worksheet, and my science fair aim and hypothesis. At lunch time I had hockey practice, we just did some skills and a game. In last block I was a little bit late to class because I was still at hockey, then I  went back to class and did some more science fair testing, I was half way through the second person then it started pouring down with rain.

My weekend.

On Saturday the first thing I hear is the alarm, and I look out the window and it is pitch black, then I remember that mum and I are going to the Fieldays with Nana and Grandad. Kaitlyn was going to Jade's birthday party and they were having a sleep over. Mum and I got up, had breakfast, and did our normal morning routine. Kaitlyn got up and went to our neighbors house because mum and I had to meet nana and grandad at the shops at 6:45am. When we got there we got ready to leave for the Fieldays. It was freezing so I was wearing lots of layers. When we got to Hamilton at about 8:00am the Fieldays were packed. The lady directed us to a park, but when we were just about to step outside there was mud and it looked about up to your ankle deep, and we forgot to bring our gumboots. There was a nice patch of grass so the lady said that we could just park there. We walked in, bought our tickets and walked through the gates and into the bit pavilion. Grandad wanted to go and buy some pans and a pruner so we let him do that while Nana, Mum and I went and had a look at crafts and clothes.

Mum bought me a hot chocolate because it was a freezing morning. There was free sampling from the brand Nestle and Uncle Toby's. They had an oat pancake and a small sample of Milo. We went and watched a dog show and looked at some alpacas. At 12.00am we went and met Grandad at ASB for some free lunch, because they were part of their bank. It was a dry pita pocket, and over cooked sausage, with hot spicy mustard and tomato sause. Nana and I threw ours in the bin, but Mum and Grandad ate theirs. We went and watch Josh off Master Chef cook some pasta and rabbit. I did not try any though. We went and taste tested lots of different juice and ice cream on a small spoon. We did a guess how many eggs are in the basket, I guessed 1067. Nana and I went to buy a cornish pastie, we had never tried them before, and we did not like it when we bit into it because there was something spicy in it. Mum got a bun and we went to hop in the car to drive to Raymonds house, he is Grandad's friend. We went and had a look at some horses on the farm, my favorite was Hatch. We went and had a look at 48 hour old lambs, they were so cute. We practiced hockey, said good bye and drove home.

Writing a conversation

On the playground

"Ouch I screamed as I fell off the unstable climbing wall"
"Are you okay" said a person standing neer by.
"No I hurt my left leg when I fell off the unstable climbing wall"
"Wait there I will go and get a teacher"
"Okay, but be fast, or I think I will pass out" I say sarcastically.
"Ok" Said Lucy "I'll try"
When I look down, I see that there is a bruise about the size of a base ball, it was dark purple and almost going black.
When the teacher got there she took me to the sick bay.
I said "Thanks" to Lucy for helping me.

Adopt a pet/foster one from a pet store.

On the 2nd of June, Kaitlyn, Mum and I were asked to look after a Teacup Maltese called Sophia, because my friend was going away for 6 days. Rewa and Madison dropped her off with some food,  her bed, a blanket and a cute waterproof coat to go on her if it was spitting or cold and we wanted to take her for a walk. When her owners left, she was crying, so we played her favorite game her special toy, the game was piggy in the middle. The first night, Sophia slept in her bed in our room, Kaitlyn and I would take turns of having her on our sides. The next morning, we looked at her dog biscuits and they were very big, we tried to feed her, but she wouldn't eat, and we thought that she was a bit nervous to eat, so mum rang her vets and they said that her food is probably too big for her, so I cut the biscuits up and she ate them, we were very pleased!

The next day while we were at school mum took Sophia for a walk. That night she slept on Kaitlyn's side of the room, but ended up on my side in the morning. On Saturday we went and took her to meet mums friends dog Milly, she was a little bit bigger than Sophia, but they got along well. We took them for a walk to the park and back for some fresh air. When we got home, she had a big drink of water, lay in her bed and fell asleep. On Sunday, Mum, Kaitlyn and I decided to go for a walk around the Waikareao Estuary, but it was 9 km and we did not think that Sophia could manage it. When we got home, she was very please to have some company and Sophia was very energetic! On Monday, we got up and discovered that Sophia had piddled and plopped on the new carpet! We took Sophia for a walk, twice on Monday, then we went to Rebel Sport and bought new hockey sticks. We had a hockey practice that day at school, but not all of our team turned up. When we got home, we had dinner and watched a little bit of X Factor. On Tuesday we had to go to school, so we said bye to Sophia, because Rewa and Madison were picking her up that day. Kaitlyn and I were sad that she was leaving, but we enjoyed the time we had with her!
Here is a photo of Sophia in her bed, cuddled up.

My Nana

My Nana

My Nana's name is Ruth. She is quite short and has a little bit of a bend in her back, she is very skinny and bony. She has grey curly hair, and whenever she comes back from the hairdresser, and sometimes fi I look at her from the back, I could mistake her for Granddad. She always talks to herself like there is someone right next to her and I say, "Who are you talking to" and she says "ohh umm the person right next to me, but they just left."But I knew better, nana was talking to herself.

Homework Task P5

Physical activity and the outdoors
P.5-Compete in a sport for an entire season

Every Monday morning at 7:30 I would go to tennis lessons at school for all of term one. Brett and Kerry Hampton were our coaches. Each morning we would do a set of warm up skills or games. This involved learning about the Base Lines, Service Line, Doubles Line, Singles Line, Center Line, Net and playing short games. One of my favorite games were Tennis Cricket this was a game of elimination, Brett or Kerry would stand on one side of the net, we would stand at the service line and return the serve, hopefully it would land with in the boundary lines we were given. If we didn't get it over we would go to the other side, trying to catch the other peoples serves. Each session lasted an hour  where we were taught new skills.

I really enjoyed the coaching methods Kerry and Brett used. At the end of term one I felt I had learnt a lot more about tennis and would now feel confident to have a game. It is something I can now do with family and friends when we all get together during summer.  I think it was a very good opportunity and im so pleased I had a go at it, I have learnt a new sport.

Charging laptops at school

Negatives

• If you charge your laptops at school, it costs the school a lot of money, it costs 24 cents a day per person, and we have 30 people in our class. Plus I think that the school should spend their money knew resources like a new gym or new sports gear.
• If you charge your laptop at school it can be dangerous as well because there are lots of cords around on the floor and you could trip and hurt your self.
• The school could spend their money on new resources like a new gym or new sports gear

Suggestions

• You should put your brightness down, that will save your battery time.
• We could have a charger monitor and people could charge their laptops once or twice a term and when they have used up their 2 turns, they just have to work on paper if your laptop goes flat.

My Weekend

On the weekend Kaitlyn and I started the 40 hour famine, we did the "No eating" event. At 11:00am we walked around the corner to my mums friends house. My mum had made Cheese Scones and my nana had made pikelets. I felt so hungry, watching them eat it in front of me, so I just had one small cheese scone with jam, and counted how long I took to eat that, and I was going to add it on at the end. When we got home, Sam rang and asked us if we wanted to go out for Sushi, and I love sushi so we said yes please they came and picked us up at 1:00pm. We went and got some sushi, my favorite is Teriyaki chicken so I got that. After we went and had a look at the art gallery, there was some amazing art their! Sam offered us an ice cream, so I chose passion fruit. We went and sat in the sun and ate our ice creams.

Why do you get dizzy when you spin around?

Why do you get dizzy when you spin around?

In your ear there is an organ called Cochlea. Inside that organ there are 3 tiny semi circles which holds  fluid and when you spin around and around, the fluids all slosh together causing you to feel dizzy, when you stop spinning, the fluids keep mixing causing all of the items around you to blur and spin. On the outside of the semi circles are tiny little hairs which are connected to a nerve cell which is then connected to the brain. The first semi circle detects when you nod your head, the second when you cartwheel and the third when you spin around.

How do stars form?

Stars are formed from a cloud of dust and gas found in the Galaxy. As gas is pulled by gravity into a cloud the atoms bump together creating heat waves of energy. As it becomes night time, the clouds glow, which forms a prostar which grown into a full star.

BP Technology Challenge

On Friday our classroom went to the 17th Avenue Cemetery. We went their because in maths we are doing statistics so at the Cemetery we had to ask a question like how many people died aged between 30 and 60. We got into pairs and walked out of the gate and down 17th Avenue, into the Cemetery. We had a little look around for about 20 minutes in our pairs and gathered some data. Tomorrow we are going back to the Cemetery to collect the rest of our data.

Put your school uniform on and by that time it is about twenty to eight. Pack your school bag with your lunchbox, a water bottle, your laptop and P.E uniform. Shipwrecked Suitcase

Shipwrecked Suitcase

A suitcase named Jerry was travelling with a family on a cruise. Jerry was a very important suitcase because he was one of the biggest suit cases in the world! The family brought 3 suitcases and 3 back packs. The 2 adults and the child packed their things into the bags and off they went on the cruise. They were having an amazing time, and staying 15 days and 14 nights on the ship. So far it had only been 3 days and 2 nights. Suddenly, the seas got rough, the and the boat started swaying side to side, and starting to sink. The parents and her child were all very scared, and were running to get their life jackets when the ship started to tip over on its side. The water got into all of the rooms, and flooded the boat. Jerry fell out into the rough and tumbling sea. He was very scared. His family were stuck in their room, and they sadly drowned. Jerry got washed up onto shore, and about 3 days later another family found him, and took him home, so he felt safe again.

My Weekend

In the weekend we went to Ohope because my brother was going on a bus to Gisborne. My cousins live in Ohope so we went and visited them. As soon as we got there, on the table was sitting a whole tray of cup cakes and lemon slice, to tell the truth, I did not really like the lemon slice because I dont really like lemon and it was a bit sweet. While mum went to drop off Kerry in Opotiki to catch the bus, my cousins and I made pork dumplings for afternoon tea/an early dinner. Unfortunately we did not get to spend much time with the cousins because as soon as mum got back which was abut 6:00 pm we had to leave. Even though we did not get to spend much time with them, but thats ok because I enjoyed spending time with them.

Science Experiment

The news paper bridge

In year 6 at Maungatapu Primary School, at Lake Whakamaru Camp we had to build a bridge using one meter of sellotape , and three pages of news paper and one pair of scissors per group, there were five people in a group and six groups. First we had to make the base so my group made six strong paper pillars to hold up the bridge, that went well but then we had to tape it together with only one meter of sellotape and we needed some left over too, so that was one of the hardest part of building the bridge. We also ripped thick wide strips of news paper and sellotaped them onto the pillars. It nearly fell over. We were the first group to finish, then the juges came to tell us that we needed to put two muesli bars on top, that was also very hard! In the end we won and got to eat the muesli bars, that was fun.

Camp Post

Last week the Rimu House year 8's went to camp at Ngamuwahine Outdoor Education Lodge.

I'm proud that I did everything that was on offer, even though I was a little bit scared for the high ropes and abseiling because I did not do abseiling last year, but I completed it this year. Another scary thing to do was the Vertical Playpen, that is where you have to climb a post and while you climb it moves, then you have to climb onto a beam, the next object is to get onto the tiers, pull your self up onto another beam, you had to throw your  self over the next beam while standing on a rope shaped like a mouth, then climb through a tyre and sit on it.

Believe it or not on Tuesday night all of the girls slept outside on the ground in the bush in a Bivouac tied to trees with ropes, it was freezing, we sat around the fire and told scary stories and lots of the girls were getting a little bit scared. We were aloud a torch to turn on in the night if we got scared.

The biggest challenge was abseiling because I did not do it last year and I had never done it before, the climbing up part was easy but getting lowered to start climbing down the abseiling wall it was so scary. You have to climb up about 15-20 meters high and Mr Smith would clip you in and lower you so your bum was lower than your feet, and you would start slowly stepping, but I stepped really fast because I was scared.

Massive earthquake hits Iran.

The country Iran has been hit by their biggest earthquake in 40 years. The earthquake was a 7.8 magnitude and near the south-east city of Khash. 40 people were killed and up to 1000 mud homes were destroyed and damaged and 5 people were killed in pakistan. Offices evacuated in Abu Dhabi and tall buildings in the Indian capital Delhi swayed side to side, but did not fall down. The Iranian Red Crescent aid was sending 20 search and rescue teams with 3 helicopters.

My opinan
I think that it is a very big earth quake, and they are lucky to have not had more people die.

Argument over world's smallest park.

Two countries, Britain and America are arguing over who has the world's smallest park. One in Portland Oregon has a concrete platter that is approximately 0.6 meters in diameter, with some soil and plants, The Guinness Book Of Records says that that park is the smallest. In england, they have a park that is 4.5 meters by 9 meters, but there point that they are arguing is whether Americas park is even a park at all.

My Opinion
I think that America's "park" is not a park at all, it only has a few plants and some soil. Where as Britain park is 4.5 meters by 9 meters. I also think that that is a stupid point to argue about.

Dog eats $500 of real money

A US man had left his dog Sundance alone in his car and he ate $500 in cash. Wayne (The owner) had gone to a restaurant for his dinner and Sundance decided it was his dinner time too. The owner collected the pieces of the five $100 bills out of the dogs droppings and sent them to the US Treasure Department and Wayne hopes that they will replace the pieces of money for the lost $500 but Wayne has been told that the process of changing the money could take up to 2 years.

My opinion
I think that it is quite funny that his dog ate $500 but also I feel sorry for Wayne because he has lost that much money and it will take 2 years to get it back.

Homework

Amount
We think that 30-45 minutes every weeknight is a reasonable expectation for homework. Per week that equals approximately 2.5 hours per week of homework.
2 terms = 20 weeks. Every homework task should take you 5 hours to do.

Quality
You need to work on each homework task for at least 2.5 to 5 hours. It should like it was done by a year 8 student. The product you make (if relevant) should look good quality.

Blog Post
- must be at least 2 paragraphs
- has to be punctuated correctly, spell checked and no errors
- you must include which category and task number in your post title so Miss C can sign you off.

Tokoroa house goes up in flames.

In Tokoroa in a street called Dalmeny Street a house went up in flames at 6:40 pm yesterday. The fire killed one person and leaving another man fighting for his life in Waikato Hospital last night, he has serious burns and had to have light surgery. A neighbor heard the bang and ran outside to see 100 meters away there was a house alight. Police are investigating what caused the fire from this morning on.

My opinion
I think that it is very tragic that one person died and one badly injured, I also wonder what caused the fire.

The races that you could compete in were 25 freestyle 25 breaststroke 25 backstroke 50 freestyle 25 doggie paddle 25 dolphin dive 25 underwater swim. There was one more event that your teacher selected you for, that was the class relay. Miss Mckenzie did the placings and Mr Mossip did the starting, Miss Campbell did the calling out of the events and Miss Mills just helped with everything. The events I competed in were 25 breaststroke, 25 backstroke and the class relay which was 25 freestyle. The mighty room 42 won, which that is the class I am in. My highlight for the day was doing the class relay  and getting 2nd in breaststroke, it was so much fun.

First Month at T.I.S 2013

In my first month at Tauranga Intermediate School 2013 I have Miss Campbell as my teacher in room 42. We have done a lot of maths like B.E.D.M.A.S (Brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction) square roots, order of operations and much more. So far this year I have trialled for the Tauranga Intermediate School production called "A Triumphant Tale." I tried out for dancing but I am not sure if I got in or not, hopefully though. I have also tried out for hockey. There is an A team a B team and a C team, I was in the c team last year but I will hopefully be in the B team this year.  I have more hockey trials after school today, this is going to be the third trial. At the moment I play tennis on a Monday morning from 7:30 till 8:30 am. I have met lots of new people from different houses and some year 7 from Rimu house. Through out this year my goal is to get my Honors Badge and maybe a bar.
