How to be me in the morning

Firstly your alarm clock goes off at 6:30 am which reminds you that you have 30 minutes till you have to drag your self out of bed and have breakfast. Put about 3/4 of a cup of ricies in your bowl, with milk and 1 spoonful of plain yogurt. Clean your teeth for two minutes, and wash your face. Brush your hair and tie it up. Put your school uniform on and by that time it is about twenty to eight. Pack your school bag with your lunchbox, a water bottle, your laptop and P.E uniform. Put your school socks on and shoes, tie your laces and walk out the door.

Shipwrecked Suitcase

Shipwrecked Suitcase

A suitcase named Jerry was travelling with a family on a cruise. Jerry was a very important suitcase because he was one of the biggest suit cases in the world! The family brought 3 suitcases and 3 back packs. The 2 adults and the child packed their things into the bags and off they went on the cruise. They were having an amazing time, and staying 15 days and 14 nights on the ship. So far it had only been 3 days and 2 nights. Suddenly, the seas got rough, the and the boat started swaying side to side, and starting to sink. The parents and her child were all very scared, and were running to get their life jackets when the ship started to tip over on its side. The water got into all of the rooms, and flooded the boat. Jerry fell out into the rough and tumbling sea. He was very scared. His family were stuck in their room, and they sadly drowned. Jerry got washed up onto shore, and about 3 days later another family found him, and took him home, so he felt safe again.

Yesterday the satellite class moved into their new classroom out side of ours, because their old class room burnt by an electrical fan or heater left on over night. 5 people at a time got to go and meet the children in the class, Bobby greeted us at the door and showed the group that I was in around the classes. There are lots of small rooms that the Satellite children have, and they have one main one.

My Weekend

In the weekend we went to Ohope because my brother was going on a bus to Gisborne. My cousins live in Ohope so we went and visited them. As soon as we got there, on the table was sitting a whole tray of cup cakes and lemon slice, to tell the truth, I did not really like the lemon slice because I dont really like lemon and it was a bit sweet. While mum went to drop off Kerry in Opotiki to catch the bus, my cousins and I made pork dumplings for afternoon tea/an early dinner. Unfortunately we did not get to spend much time with the cousins because as soon as mum got back which was abut 6:00 pm we had to leave. Even though we did not get to spend much time with them, but thats ok because I enjoyed spending time with them.

In 1752 Benjamin franklin discovered electricity using a key and a kite showing that he could fly a kite in a thunder storm. He wanted to prove that lightning was really electricity air. To do this experiment he         got a metel key and flew a kite and tied the metel key to the string at the bottom of the kite , he got electrocuted and thats how he proved that lightning was electricity air.

Science Experiment

The news paper bridge

In year 6 at Maungatapu Primary School, at Lake Whakamaru Camp we had to build a bridge using one meter of sellotape , and three pages of news paper and one pair of scissors per group, there were five people in a group and six groups. First we had to make the base so my group made six strong paper pillars to hold up the bridge, that went well but then we had to tape it together with only one meter of sellotape and we needed some left over too, so that was one of the hardest part of building the bridge. We also ripped thick wide strips of news paper and sellotaped them onto the pillars. It nearly fell over. We were the first group to finish, then the juges came to tell us that we needed to put two muesli bars on top, that was also very hard! In the end we won and got to eat the muesli bars, that was fun.

Camp Post

Last week the Rimu House year 8's went to camp at Ngamuwahine Outdoor Education Lodge.

I'm proud that I did everything that was on offer, even though I was a little bit scared for the high ropes and abseiling because I did not do abseiling last year, but I completed it this year. Another scary thing to do was the Vertical Playpen, that is where you have to climb a post and while you climb it moves, then you have to climb onto a beam, the next object is to get onto the tiers, pull your self up onto another beam, you had to throw your  self over the next beam while standing on a rope shaped like a mouth, then climb through a tyre and sit on it.

Believe it or not on Tuesday night all of the girls slept outside on the ground in the bush in a Bivouac tied to trees with ropes, it was freezing, we sat around the fire and told scary stories and lots of the girls were getting a little bit scared. We were aloud a torch to turn on in the night if we got scared.

The biggest challenge was abseiling because I did not do it last year and I had never done it before, the climbing up part was easy but getting lowered to start climbing down the abseiling wall it was so scary. You have to climb up about 15-20 meters high and Mr Smith would clip you in and lower you so your bum was lower than your feet, and you would start slowly stepping, but I stepped really fast because I was scared.
